His Little Lambs Policies

My name is Roxanne Mach and I am a Christian mother of three. I’ve had the honor of being able to stay at home with my second two children and have over 15 years experience as a childcare provider. I have worked in our church’s Mother’s Day Out program, nursery, Sunday School and Wednesday night children’s program. Having worked outside the home with my first child, I understand the need for quality, trustworthy, dependable childcare.

I believe that all children are special and unique. It is my goal to provide children with a safe environment that nurtures self-esteem and security I try to create an environment that promotes learning through hands on play and discovery. We sing songs, read stories, do fingerplays, crafts and learn Bible stories. I am also happy to offer a preschool curriculum through Funshine Express for children ages 2-5 that will help teach them and prepare them for kindergarten.

I encourage parents to discuss expectations they have and /or want for their child and myself.  I am always open to any feedback about myself as a provider.  It is important that parents and providers communicate together and establish a good relationship, which is in everyone’s best interest especially the child’s.

Thank you for your interest in my child care program!

Hours of Operation:

Full-time day positions are Monday thru Friday 7:00 am until 5:30 pm.  Full time is considered 30+ hours per week. Please do not be here any later than 5:30 pm to pick up your child.  This is my family time and I would really appreciate it if you were on time. You will be charged $1.00 per min after 6:00 until you arrive to pick up your child.  Fees are due the day rendered. I do understand that sometimes things€¯ happen; roads are bad, traffic jam, etc... In these circumstances I understand and you will not be charged, as long as it is on an occasional basis. Please call in these instances!

Unless an agreement has been made 24 hours in advance...extra charges will be made for opening earlier or for staying open later

You will be responsible for any and all legal fees.  A returned check fee of $25.00 will be assessed for any returned checks.

Trial Period:

There is a 2 week trial period during which either you or I may cancel child care services without notice. However, after the 2 week trial period, a 2 week (10 business days) notice must be given by the terminating party. If you wish to end my services without the 2 week notice, you may do so, but you will be required to pay for the full 2 weeks in advance.

Home based child care consists of a variety of factors: first is to provide a safe and secure, loving environment for the child-and for parents to feel their child is safe and happy while they are at work. However, it is also a business, and like you, I need to be able to pay the bills the daycare has as well as to be able to have a dependable income. Just as you receive a paycheck for doing your job, I need to be paid as well.

Attendance / Absences:

To help plan with the daily activities, please call if your child is not going to be here.  If your plan on dropping your child off earlier than your normal drop off time please let me know the day before.

First Aid:

Scratches and scrapes will be treated with soap and water and a bandage, if needed.  You will be notified immediately for anything more serious. For major emergencies your child will be transported by ambulance. If you cannot be reached, I will get in touch with your emergency contact.

I am certified by the Red Cross in infant/child/adult CPR, First Aid / AED.

Discipline Policy:

I use positive methods which will guide children into pro-social behavior without harming the children’s self esteem.  I focus on Do’s€¯ instead of Don’ts.  I try to redirect the inappropriate behavior into acceptable behavior, if that does not work then either loss of privileges or a cooling down€¯ period may be used.  No form of physical or mental abuse is used what so ever.

Behavior:

There are certain behaviors that are not allowed at my childcare.  I want every child here to know that we treat everyone and ourselves with respect. I teach the children good manners: please, thank you, excuse me, yes ma’am I try to teach the children to be kind to each other. If your child is constantly hitting, biting, using fowl language or other behaviors that are unacceptable I will try my absolute best to try and curve the behavior into a more positive behavior.  I will also discuss this matter with you the parents and try to come to a plan of action to correct the problem...Part of my job is to keep everyone safe and happy.

Diapers and Baby Food:

You are required to supply all the diapers and wipes that your child needs.  Each child has a shelf near the changing table with his/her name on it and I store them there. I will inform you when more diapers and/or wipes need to be brought in to daycare. You will also need to supply formula, breast milk, & /or baby food until your child is able to eat table foods with the rest of the children.

~Temp of 101 or higher

~vomiting

~3 loose bowel movements

~green discharge of the eye or nose

~unidentified rash

To protect the health of the other children, I will not accept a child, that I feel is too sick to be in my care on those rare occasions when I have a sick child here, I will separate them from the healthy children in order to protect them and so the sick child can rest.

Advance Notification for Child Pick-Up:

Please let me know if someone else will be picking up your child. If I do not receive verbal authorization from you the parent, I will NOT allow the child to leave with anyone other than you, the parent. There will be NO exceptions.

Nap Time:

All children under the age of 6 who stay all day long will have a rest period.  They are not required to sleep, however they are required to lie down and rest quietly.  Quiet period is between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm.

Child Abuse Prevention:

If I suspect a child is being abused or neglected in any way, I will contact child services. It is the law in Missouri.

Other Information:

I have plenty of sippy cups-you don’t need to bring your own.

Please don’t bring toys or other things from home--they tend to get lost or the kids fight over them.

You may send books, videos or dvd’s the children can enjoy-please mark them clearly with your child’s name.

Please do not let your child come in with food or candy unless there is enough for the other children, too.

There are times when I need to do something with my own family or have an appointment, in those cases, instead of inconveniencing you, I will have a reliable substitute available.

I have a dog that is very child-friendly and a couple of cats that usually stay away from the daycare house.

Occasionally we take field trips and I will let you know when and where we will be going.

I hope to have a CDA, (child development associate certification through Washington, DC), in group family childcare by winter 2006 (this requires over 120 hours of child development education and additional classes each year. I hope to be licensed by the state of Missouri in 2007.
